IMPORTANT SPECIAL NOTICE
The Cardinal Criminal Justice Academy normal schedule for training courses is Monday - Thursday, 0700 - 1800 hrs. The schedule for some specialized courses may vary. Please view the training announcement for the course that you plan to attend or call the academy to verify the schedule for you course.
Directions to the academy from exit 137 off of north bound Interstate 81
From exit 137 ramp turn right onto Wildwood Road. Go to the first traffic light and turn left onto West Main Street. Go 0.8 mile to the second traffic light and turn right onto Mill Lane. Go 0.3 mile across the railroad tracks and the river to a four way stop sign. Turn left onto West Riverside Drive. Go 1.1 miles and turn left onto Mulberry Street. (Mulberry Street will be just after a hard right curve) When you are on Mulberry Street go to the first stop sign and turn left onto Central Avenue. The academy is one block down on your right at the dead end.
Directions to the academy from exit 141 off of south bound Interstate 81
From the exit 141 ramp turn right onto Electric Road (Route 419). Go to the first traffic light and turn right onto East Main Street. Go 1.9 miles and turn left onto Union Street/ Academy Street (same road). Go approximately one mile thru the first traffic light and crossing two sets of railroad tracks. At the second set of railroad tracks bear to the right onto Eddy Street. Go across the river and thru the next traffic light. After you go thru the traffic light take the second right onto Central Avenue. The academy is two blocks on the right at the dead end.
Directions to the academy from Route 220 - Interstate 581
Take the Franklin Road/Salem exit. Go north on Electric Road (Route 419) to the intersection with Apperson Drive (Route 11). Turn left onto Apperson Drive and go 0.9 mile to a traffic light. Turn left at the traffic light onto Colorado Street and go 0.2 mile to Bowman Avenue. Turn right onto Bowman Avenue and go 0.8 mile to the dead end. Turn left into the back of the academy and park in the parking lot on the right.
Please note that you may be crossing at least one set of railroad tracks on your way to the academy. Ten to fifteen minute delays at these railroad crossings are not uncommon. Please allow yourself extra time to ensure that you are not late for the start of training.
Directions to Our Recommended Motel Accommodations
We have inspected the accommodations at the Comfort Suites and have found both the staff and the rooms to be of exceptional quality. To get to the Comfort Suites from the exit 141 ramp turn right onto Electric Road (Route 419). Travel approximately 5 miles and turn right onto Keagy Road (Just past Lewis Gale Hospital).

Directions to Cardinal Criminal Justice Academy from the Comfort Suites
Turn left onto Electric Road (Route 419). At the 2nd stop light turn left onto Apperson Drive (Exxon station). Follow Apperson Drive to the next stop light, turn left onto Colorado (almost a u-turn), turn right on the 2nd street on your right Bowman Avenue. Follow Bowman to the dead end and the Academy is on the left.
